Is Spiny-tailed monitor the same as Ackie

I know this is probably a really dumb question but my knowledge of monitors is very limited because I am deeply involved with tegus. The reason I am asking this question is because I read in Reptiles Magazine that spiny-tailed monitors might be the next "popular reptile". And I do know that ackies are very easy going monitors and they have spiny tails. thanks
