No, everything isnt alright in brevi land... I am so sorry i havent been able to answer, the thing is, ALOT of things have happened. I am using my brothers account for email, i am looking to start a breeding business. Asking around, choosing a logo, getting new blood lines, etc... The r. Brevicaudatus is going from bad to worse, i am not sure what i am doing wrong, but she just stops, falls asleep, goes to the floor and sleeps there, etc... I have provided several substrates, thinking that the last one wasnt her "cup of tea". I have simply ran out of ideas. Wheter she will be eggbound or survive i cannot tell. I am sincerely trying my best. I cant trust my vet with such a small chameleon as this, and money is tight. The cham's conditon is going to irreversible soon, but i simply have done a behemothian task so far, the poor thing is hanging by a few threads.... Sorry about this lele, i have not shipped the cham because the shipping stress might be the nail in the coffin.

I am sorry to hear this...wish you were closer. what are you using for substrate? I use sterile soil-less mix with a layer of repti-bark on top. they rarely go to the floor, though except when I first got them. now they always stay among the plants. Does she have vines, etc. where she can get from one place to another w/o having to go to the ground? What are you feeding her? is she eating? I have been cup feeding quite successfully - you may want to try b/c then you can see if she is eating. maybe get some silkies rather than crix (if that's what you're feeding her) to help her nutrition. Do you dust her food?

Sorry if I sound like a worried Mom but I would be heartsick if anything was wrong with my little ones I guess I am frustrated b/c I can't help. PLEASE keep me posted and if she begins to get better let's talk about shipping - if you want. I would be willing to try.

Keep in touch,

lele

Hi Lele,

I will do as you asked, i will keep you posted... To answer some of your questions... I have used sphagnum moss, repti bark, orkid bark mix, sand-soil mix, sand-soil-vermiculite mix as substrates, tried lowering the temps, tried rising humidity AND lowering it, and i am giving her dusted wee crickets and fruit flies (also dusted). She stands still with her eyes closed and only wakes up when i put in a new substrate. I have several twigs, a flexi-branch, a live photos and some schiflerra (spelling). The tank is set up in such a way that she can go to almost anywhere (except the top of the tank) without having to go terrestrial. But anyways, why would she walk all the way to the other side of the tank to simply close her eyes and remain there for ours at a time? I am in a seriously bad mood so forgive me if i sounded too harsh.

Best wishes,

Anthony

Maybe you are changing things too frequently and not giving her time to settle in...just a thought. I was under the impression that you haven't had her for very long.

I she eating the crix? I can only imagine what you are going through! Maybe let her settle in to the current habitat and see how she does. I have opted for repti-bark, stones, vines and small branches for them to get around. Trying to post pix on gallery...

BTW, she may not be gravid..does she look bigger since you got her? Whatever substrate you are using is there sufficient loose soil below in case she wants to dig? Please don't think I am making any judgement here, I am just trying to help figure things out. Can you post pix of her and the setup?
