I heard it needs to be one square foot of floor for each foot of snake. It doesn't really need to be tall since kingsnakes don't climb, they're more ground dwellers.

well i have a forty gallon take for my cali king it is about 2 and a half feet. well anyway different breeders have different opinions. some say they can have 20-35 gallons i would say 35-any higher if its a baby and you dont whant to spend a whole lot get i 10 gallon for now. that is what i did and sure enough i went into a fish store and i was looking at 40-60 gal tanks and i could build a top and someone had a forty gal that he was givig away because it had a leak in the silicone well anyway look in the news paper or recycler or go to a fish or reptile store and ask if they have any broken or old tanks they dont need if its broken go to a glass shoppe and by the glass and scilicone it in thats what i did with my forty because it broke in the car ride home lol....... oh well look around and hope you find one good luck. hope you enjoy your estern king.

I am in the process of building a stack of cages for all my larger kings. My largest is just under 6ft. The cages will be 36"x16"x10". Thats more than required, but I like to give the a little extra.
