Blow to the nose

RoyC Jul 16, 2004 08:41 PM

Well, the tank doesn't smell that bad but it does smell when I stick my head in it. Is there anyway to get rid of the smell? I change my water quite a lot. My mom told me just to get one of those air freshener things (not the spray king) and just place it by the tank. Is that a good idea?

I keep my tank really clean so I have no idea why it smells so bad. I seem to be the only one that can smell it though. I change about 75% of the water ever couple weeks and replace the carbon in the filter once a month. I'm using Marineland Diamond Blend. Is there another brand I should be using? The water is crystal clear but it just doesn't smell that great. Thanks.

How big is your tank? I am not familiar with the filter you are using but how many gal. does it say it's for? My smaller tank (20 long) used to smell alot, but my 90 gal doesn't smell unless I go on vacation for a week and put alot of fish and plants in there. That of course was before my new filter. My old filter was not good enough and broke because it was 4 years old. Anyway sorry I can't help more.
