Suriname cage size

geasmith Jul 16, 2004 09:04 PM

I have a pair of suriname boas that are about ready for their adult size cages. The female is 3 years old and around 5 ft. long. The male is 2.5 years old and about 3.5 feet long. I have tried to grow them slowly. I only feed once every 2 to 3 weeks. What I'm wondering is how big of a cage should I get to house them the rest of their lives? Is 5'L X 2'D X 18"T w/ a shelf big enough, or do I need something a bit bigger.

Thanks,
Geary

First, they should be kept in seperate cages except during breeding season.

The male should be fine in a 4x2x1ft cage.

The female in a 5x2x1ft cage, unless she gets really big.

Hope this helps!

After reading my post, it's not really clear what I meant. Anyway, I was talking abouth a 5X2X1.5 ft cage for each of them. They would be boaphile cages w/ the shelf option.

Thanks,
Geary
