I'm Back!!

Collaredkeeper Jul 16, 2004 11:04 PM

I had a great Vacation and all of my Collareds are doing good. I was suprised to see how big my babies got, They grow up so fast.
My female is still orange as can be and has found a laying den in her cage. Should be fun these next few weeks. Well, anyways my food is here and I'm hungry.

On your web page, you attribute the "Mountain Boomer" name to the lizards' bipedal habits. Every source I've seen credits the name to the old pioneers mistaking the noise of some other (unseen) animal for that of the lizards, which were prominently basking atop boulders etc.

....I don't recall seeing the 'booming' attributed to any other animal source (mistakenly?), just an unseen cause they attributed to the lizards. What gets your vote as the unmistaken real source of mountain booming? Then we can discuss the Marfa Lights LOL.

on mountainboomer.com it says:
The early pioneers thought collared lizards were poisonous, and called them "Mountain Boomers" in the erroneous belief that these lizards were the source of unknown loud noises coming from rocky hillsides. Whatever those mysterious noises turned out to be, they weren't coming from the lizards, as they make no such loud noises.

it does not necessarily say that another animal made the noise but perhaps there were wolf raised humans who were confused when they saw a species similar to them that acted totally different and they were trying to call out to them. just a thought....or maybe it is the cold medicine.

I have no clue what everybody is talking about. The wierd thing about it is that I have brown hair. It is just a joke. Whatever is the problem I will try to find it. And for everyone out there, never nudge a nudger when the nudge is nudging you. Ha, try to figure that out. I am delirious and feel wierd today, too many pineapples.
