I've heard both yes and no.... so which one is true?

But it doesn't mean it is their main diet. I went to a rattlesnake den here in Arizona and I kept a small Sonoran Gopher snake that had a huge bulge in it. Too large to have been a rodent compared to the small head. So I kept it and it pooped a few days later BUT still had a big bulge in it. Then a few days later it regurged a partially decomposed rattlesnake head and about 6 inches of neck. The Sonoran Gopher had killed and eaten an Arizona Black rattlesnake that was at least the same size in length. It was spring time and I'm sure that was the first meal of the year for the Sonoran Gopher snake.
