Does freezing lizards kill parasites?

paul-manoogian Jun 21, 2003 07:10 PM

My California king is eating me out of house and home. Fuzzies are expensive. I live in Miami FL and have got a backyard full of green and brown anoles. If I freeze them, will that kill ALL parasites and make them safe for my king? Thanks for any all advice!

The only answer to that is maybe, maybe not. It will kill most of them, but you'll need to leave them frozen very solid for a long period of time...I think it's several months, though I don't recall the exact time frame cited.

It's still a huge risk. You'd probably be better ordering a batch of frozen mice.
