Feeding still no good......

savvgawd Jul 17, 2004 08:44 AM

Well the last time I posted I tried with 2 fuzzies in the enclosure. She didn't even have any interest in them and so many days passed I felt bad of them dying from starvation so I just gave them to my monitor. I'm a little nervous because it's been over a month and she hasnt had her first meal or her first shed. She is a very non aggresive snake and has only tried to tag me once, and when she did the I couldn't even feel the bite as if she had a weak jaw muscle or somthing. Am I over worried or should I be concerned. I guess It's because I've never had a baby thing young whom I had to give their first meal. Anyone would be appreciated ~Matt

` It is not uncommon for baby Anacondas to go much longer than yours has before their first meal.
` I've known many folks who got really stressed over it, and transferred the stress to the Anaconda, thus increasing the problem.
` I've had lots of people who bought snakes from me come to believe I didn't care about the critters when I repeatedly advised them to quit worrying about it.
` It's natural, and a sign of a good herp-keeper to worry about delayed feeding, and lapses in feeding; however, in most cases, you're putting yourself and the snake into a stressful situation unnecessarily.
` As far as the bite, Anacondas, and many other Boids, I've found, will strike, and hit you with their teeth but not bite in, when warning you. I've had adult Anacondas do this, and it's amazing how much control they have. It's quite astonishing when a 13 foot, 80 pound constrictor strikes hard at your hand, hits it, and leaves just scratches. Just don't count on it. Rich

I am not sure if you said you had a green or a yellow (its probably in your post and I missed it). If it is a green, try chicks.
