Ball python egg laying ?

mingdurga Jul 17, 2004 10:24 AM

Noticed a lot of folks get their eggs late summer. Are the pairs introduced later or ? I put mine together in Dec/ Jan. since all the literature indicates this as the ideal season. Would like to have the eggs laid in June/ July but not sure if ovulation time has past. Could this be the climate they're in?
I'm in NY state.

Thanks,

Mike

I think it is more climate. I am in CA and I just got eggs this week. It takes longer for the ambiant temps to drop down here and then it seems that it is longer in the season till we really start warming back up. I had a pair together early on and they bred often but she waited till now to lay the eggs. Most of my high end snakes that I bought from other breeders in CA were either Sept. or nov babies, so my guess is my eggs are right on time for CA standards.
