Genes in Milksnakes ? ?

mingdurga Jul 17, 2004 12:32 PM

Just wondering:

Who's the "gene" producer. The male or female? If you had only "one of a kind," would you opt for the Male or Female?
Would the resulting offspring be all hets or do you raise em' all and breed to each other to find out?

Appreciate any and all replies from the genealogist out there.

Thank you,

Mike

Mike,
It doesn't really matter on the gender its just better to have a male so you can breed it to several females. If its a female you only have one shot but yes they should all be hets if its simple recessive.

As far as breeding them back its the same thing, doesn't matter if you go son back to mother or doughter back to father, same results.

If you bredd siblings that are het you will get aprox 25%of whatever the morph is and all the rest are possible hets since you can't tell by site the real hets vs. the normals?

My reference to Mr. Right was to the male "one of a kind" being the go to guy.
Sorry it came out the wrong way.
