Good looking turtle and cool picture...is it an animated GIF file or something else?
>>Good looking turtle and cool picture...is it an animated GIF file or something else?
It was an .mpg file that I converted to .gif and then edited each frame by cutting out the background to decrease overall file size. the original gif size was 1 mb, and I got it down to 165kb. its composed of 10 frames, each with a .07 second pause.

What software do you use to convert MPEGs to GIFs? I took several very cool movies (.avi files) this weekend of the courtship dance, basking and yawning. I really want to share them on the forum but unless I post them on my own web site or something it's close to being impossible (for me at least). My movie files are around 15-25 MB big. I could save select frames manually from QuickTime Player, decrease the resolution and image size, and put the sequence together in Photoshop but it's too labor-intensive and not as cool as a movie...
>>What software do you use to convert MPEGs to GIFs? I have 2 programs that I know can do it. One is called Camtasia, I just got it and it seems pretty cool, its videoediting software, and one option is to convert to gif, cant do much more than that tho.
The other is Adobe Imageready, a part of Adobe Creative Suite. This is an excellent software for creating and editing animated gifs. I have created quite a few recently with this program. Really cool, tho I understand it might be quite expensive. not sure if you can get it standalone, that might be cheaper (or if you use one of the other ways to get software, but I cant talk about those on here. :-/ )

Thanks! Just realized that I do have Adobe ImageReady...but have never used it. It must have come with Adobe Photoshop because I don't remember installing it. Will definitely play with it when I have time!
