PLEASE HELP! Finding a snake in So. Cal.

usaFORanarchy Jul 17, 2004 05:27 PM

I really would like to find some snakes near Dana Point. I am realy looking to keep a Cal. King but I would like to observe the other kind of snakes. Does anyone know a good place?
Thank You!

If you do catch a king snake make sure you take it to the vet to be check for internal/external parasites if you decide to keep it. They can be fatal to the snake when kept in captivity. I really don't even suggest keeping WC Cali kings when they are 2nd most popular bred snake in captivity. You can get a nice healthy snake for fairly cheap and in a few different colors also.

Thanks for the concern, I have several Anti-Parasite sprays, also I love to catch snakes and I feel like its more mine I guess when I catch them. That may sound wierd but whatever. Thanks anyways, and if it deosn't work out I'm sure I will be purchasing them .

If in Dana Point I'd head down to where the creek flows into the ocean just south of the harbor and start walking the creekbed and checking good snake hiding spots along the way. Be forwarned, you'll find rattlers too!

The parasite spray you speak of has no effect on internal parasites, and getting wild caught snakes to eat can be tough. Good luck, make sure you have a California fishing license if you want to collect any snakes.

Thanks for the help. Yea we are looking but it is getting harder and harder to find nice areas. I don't need a fishing license(under 16) but my dad does. I have experience with getting wild caught to eat. Thanks agian for the help...
