Well, my fiance got him. He's a baby Antilles Pinktoe tarantula. I never, ever thought I'd want a spider for a pet, but now that I've met him I gotta admit he's pretty darn cute.

I once was given a black widow at work. It was in a peanut jar. I checked it about 10:30, and could not find it. I checked again at noon, and it was still there, so I didn't have to alert everyone to be on the lookout for a black widow spider...
I was quite relieved and decided to let it go outside.

Eek! They had black widows for sale at this convention too, but I told my fiance I don't ant any pets that can kill me, thanks.

Well like I said, it's my fiance's pet. Personally I'd never have wanted a tarantula, but since he's agreed to let me get my last dragon, it was his turn to get a pet he wanted.
I do have an respect and admiration for spiders, though. They play an important role in this world, and I can learn to love a creature that eats pests that I hate, like mesquitos. Ha!

No offense because I love all animals - but if that thing was in my house id scream and get my broom! Awsome that someone loves spiders, maybe you can come to my house and capture the ones that make it in my home! 
I was just thinking the same thing. Anyone see fear factor the other night. The people had to sit in this plastic case with a box over their head while tarantulas crawled all over their face. And they had to sit for three minutes. Although I have a respect for spiders, and I admit some are cute, but that would pretty much put me out of the running. Long leg spiders scare me and they are pretty harmless.
