respiratory infection.

goalielocks Jul 17, 2004 09:27 PM

My corn escaped yesterday and I found her under a wardrobe. Today a friend asked me to get her out of her cage. When I was holding her I could feel her breathing on me and if I listened carefully I could hear her make a slight almost inaudible breathing noise. I have had her for about five years and never before noticed this. Is this likely due to stress and will stop or a probable respiratory infection? The humidity in her tank is lower than it has been in the past due to our recent addition of air conditioning and the temperature is slightly above optimal but I live in Maryland part of the corn snakes natural range.

Thanks,
Billy

Could it be she was hissing at you?

A few of my snakes were wheezing, or so I thought, and when I took the worst one to the vet he said all he was doing was hissing at me since it was breeding season.

Boy, I felt stupid. I'd heard other snakes hiss but never any of my corns. I guess this breeding season they were just more moody than usual.
