Any ideas for a new cage ?

scarface Jul 17, 2004 10:14 PM

I wanna upgrade my bp's current 20 gallon fish tank.

Any ideas ?

should i build one ?

i heard the reptarium mesh cage is bad since it doesn't hold humidity well ...
I want to try to put him in a nice large (not too huge) cage.

thanks in advance for your input !

click on the link below her picture. It takes you to her site, and then click on "info" and then the highlighted word "cage".

Here's my tank:

The size is 36x18x18. But I'm planning on getting him a nice boaphile plastics cage soon (48x24x18)

Misty's cage looks like a mental asylum!

mistysprouse Jul 18, 2004 03:20 PM

why? the pictures are before I got them all set-up with hides and branches etc. is that what you are referring too? or the fact that they white outside so they blend in my apartment, or the black insides so that they are on the darker side for the snakes comfort?

they are based on many different suggestions of what makes a good cage that have been on here over the years.

Sorry Misty, I didn't mean that your vivarium is bad. I'm sure it's perfect for snakes. I just feel that it looks like a mental asylum on account of it being white and having little windows. The wires remind me of electric shock therapy. So basically it's just my twisted mind seeing things, which aren't really there.

I'd say stick with the same basic setup you have, with a few more hides, and get either a bigger aquarium (40 gallon breeder or larger), or build yourself a new cage just by looking at what others have built, researching the caging forum, and finding the best ways for doors, vents, heating, etc. through all of that.

Either that or you can go with a company like custom cages or boaphile, but I personally would build one (or try to) if that's the style caging you want...meaning not an aquarium.

By the way, I like your setup...very nice looking, and the snake looks even better.
