female help!!!!!

dmlove Jun 21, 2003 08:08 PM

Well I have this one female, who as some know i was trying to breed to my male. Well earlier today, i felt like she wasnt really ready and i tohught the male was stressing her because she was acting strange and quite submissive. (Cheech is her name, shes actually my cousins and i am watching her as he is on vacation...but we were trying to breed our two together.) Well i put her in a 30 gallon i had, with her lights and the right temps, to give her some time off. (we planned to keep her with Ralph the week he is gone). I kind of want to put her in a bigger cage, my other females cage possibly. But first, i have some questions. I put her salad in the cage, and she looks at me and slowly bobbs her head, it seems as if she is overwhelmed and quite confused. POOR GIRL!! i feel so bad for her, i didnt think that Ralph would stress her so much. Well, she is in sight of my smaller female, Artemis, who is only about 13-14 inches long, where Cheech is about 16 inches. Artemis is a little smaller in body size too. Well artemis thinks shes big and bad, and she was bobbing her head at Cheech, through the cage. Cheech then armwaves Artemis. I was tihnking about putting Cheech with artemis, but now im thinking not to, because Cheech might get stressed in there too! should i try it out? PLease tell me what you think. Im thinking of moving cheech to another room for a while, to let her feel better and more alone time for a little. PLEASE tell me what you think! Poor cheech...

if she seems stressed, put her on her own in another room and just leave her be, be sure she has her salad and you may want to offer her some water via dropper or perhaps a short bath later on when she calms down some.

Gees I'm glad you took a step back to realize this. I know how exciting it is to breed, and how bad you want to experiance all the little babies. I would leave her be for a while. If she likes baths that might be nice. Let her stay by herself tonight to rest, and hopfully she'll be better in the morning. Sounds to me she is really scared. No need to introduce her to another dragon tonight. I would cover up her sides if she is able to see other dragons. Good Luck.
