Breeding Boas (morphs)

Beardedboy Jul 18, 2004 08:42 AM

I have a 66% het for Albino Boa and 100% het Albino boa

From this small point, what is the easiest way to produce a Snow boa (taking into consideration that I will be reiciving a het anery boa)??

The easiest way to produce a snow boa will be to produce with the poss het and het, hope they produce albinos. If they produce albinos sell or trade one of the albinos to pick up a pair of dh snows. With just het albino and het anery you are looking at possibly a high amount of breeding trials to ever get to the point of producing a snow.

If you do not want to go that route and want to use the ones you have, your best bet will be (a long breeding line to do this)

breed the possible het and het, if you produce an albino breed the albino to the het anery to produce 100% het albino 50% poss het anerys, raise a few up, breed the het albino poss het anerys together and hope they prove.

I agree with the other guy.
Your best bet is to breed the het to the poss het , hope you get albinos, sell or trade some for a pair of hets or dbl het for snows. The only good thing about poss. het s is that they are cheeper and the only real way to breed poss. hets is to buy 4 females from the same clutch and a male definate het to make your breeding group of possables really worth anything. just one poss het is a 50-50 shot 4 possies are at least 2-4.
Why do you want to produce snow? Have you really seen them as adults, not that impressive and way over rated, they look like albinos without any pink or red, they still are butter yellow. They should be called butter boas or popcorn & butter boas.
Just to let you know.
Nick
