What's your favorite Kingsnake book?

When the same old questions come up repeatedly on this forum about basic kingsnake care, people are often advised to go get a book and stop asking so many questions (and rightfully so!) Too often someone gets a new king and floods this forum with tons of questions that show they have done no homework. Remember the guy in the early spring(won't mention names)? Endless silly questions for a month and now I see his snakes are up for sale.

When I got my first kingsnake (River Rd. Gray Band) about 5 years ago I bought "Kingsnakes and Milksnakes" by Markel and Bartlett (published by Barron's). Later I bought Markel's "Kingsnakes and Milksnakes" (not the same book as mentioned above). They both cover basic snake care and describe all of the species and sub-species of kings and milks. I read them both cover to cover several times.

There is so much info out there in print and online. Check it out people!

I also have(Kingsnakes and Milksnakes, by Ronald G.Markel and R. D. Bartlett,)very good, and also, "The General Care and Maintenance of Common Kingsnakes",by David Perlowin,Published by Advanced Vivarium Systems; I refer to these sometimes as a refresher, both good books and fairly priced.

It was actually more informative about species-specific information, although it lacks the color range maps.

I was actually quite disappointed by Markel's book from 1995; I expected better since more was known about them - especially Sonoran Black Kingsnakes. (Names based on political boundaries? What were they thinking?)
