Bearded Dragon Seizure?

Kowboy Jun 21, 2003 09:03 PM

Hello everyone...I have a couple month old bearded dragon. Tonight, he was sitting on my finger. His whole body went really stiff and he started shaking a little with his mouth open. This last about 30 seconds...then he began to move his legs again....very weird, and scary! Does anyone have any idea or any past experience like this?

Thanks so much

and what size crickets etc are you feeding and how big is the space between your dragons eyes on top of their head? Do they receive any time outdoors each day and if so how much? When did they poo last? How much are they eating....ie number of bugs and amount of greens?

Im using a calcium suppliment 5 days a week....greens in the cage, but they dont touch them yet....uva/uvb light, feeding 2-3 times a day, mostly crickets, smaller then the width between their eyes, and silkworms a few times a week.

if your temps are between 95F - 110F on the basking end and 80F on the cool end, you are supplementing like you said, have the uvb/uva, the baby is eating size appropriate and he continues to do this, you need to consider this is something in him and not enviromental.

He would have to be checked by a knowledgeable vet that understand bearded dragons and viral/bacterial conditions.

I'm still curious, what calcium supplement are you using, and is there d3 in it?

i would definetly bring him to a vet ASAP....that can either mean Calcium deficiency (MBD) or it ate a prey size too big for it. Did he eat any type of large prey like a large cricket??!?!??!
