Ok, what's the right order of the sexes?

In listing the order of the sexes, is it:

Male.Female.Unknown
or
Female.Male.Unknown

I gotta know the answer to this because if I've got it backwards I've been telling everyone that my son is a girl and my wife is a man, lol
