I got my collared today!

gsir8 Jul 18, 2004 07:13 PM

I just got my first collared lizard today, and he looks very good. The guy I bought him from says he is a couple years old, and he is very active, and likes to climb on the top of the cage. I would like to know if he is a female or male though, I forgot to ask. How can you tell the sex?

well if you look underneath by the vent there may be a row of large looking scales, larger than the ones around it, that means it is a boy. also boys many times (at least i think, please correct me if i am wrong)have spots on their chins. if their chin area is mostly just plain then usually it is a girl. there are lots of pictures on the pet gallery page and there used to be pics of boys and girls vents, thanks to eve. congrats on your new lizard and i hope this helped some.
