egg sweating question..

sillyjackson Jul 18, 2004 07:49 PM

hi, do all eggs sweat before releasing fluid before hatching? i have few of my eggs releasing liquid, but they never sweated before. They are almost 7 months old. one egg looks like the liquid it is releasing is chalky, and seems to have a little red in them. Does this sound like my eggs are dying? thanks

Yes all eggs are supposed to sweat before hatching, but you have either missed the event (only several hours before releasing liquid) or the humidity was too low. THe liquid being released, you must remind yourself, will contain a small amount of the yolk in which the embryo was developing. In most cases the yolk is completely absorbed by the baby while the ebryonic fluids are released after pipping the egg (after sweating). One or two of your eggs may not need the rest of the yolk, or have come out of the egg the wrong way. The only way to find out if theyre okay or not is to wait. Don't help them hatch!

The eggs have probably hathed by now...this is a late reply but i replied cause no one else was replying.

The eggs being 7 months old suggest they are supposed to e hatching.

BTW....what species of eggs? you didnt specify

good luck!

Thanks Chunks for the reply. Was kinda dissapointed that no one bothered to reply. Anyway, the eggs did not hatch. they are pamther eggs by the way. Whats up with that? The two that i mention beofore started leaking, but nothing came out. One has stopped leaking for some reason, and the otehr one had its leak( whihc looked like egg white and dried up blood) at a side. Both now are still sitting there, and now its the third day since it happened. They both look smaller than they did, of course. By the way, i dont think humidity is too low, because i checked the humidity before this happen, and then later added a bit of water. And then another interesting event happen. One of my eggs started sweating, but that was on Monday, and again, nothing happened? What si worng with all my eggs? It frusttrating!

I really can't go past the regular incubating how-tos because I haven't got experience, only beginning the research of proper incubation a few weeks before i mate my veileds.
Try another post, sometimes people don't answer because it's the weekend or during the work day and other more popular posts take up all the room.

Good luck!!!
