I too would suggest a good ol' albig! Blackthroat or white throat are both good, it just goes down to personal prefrences and avalibility. PE might have some nice cb babies and I believe although am not sure that FR has bred whitethroats so he may be able to hook you up with some.

Varanus Flavirufus [Australian Desert Monitor, or sand monitor] would work well also.

I too would suggest a Blackthroat or Whitethroat Monitor. Either would be great in a cage of that size. Almost perfect. Also I know this is contriversal but hey, I think a peachthroat would do good in a cage this size as well. I'd stick with an Ionides though. gooday

I know shes too big for her cage, and she can disassemble parts of it from the inside. Consider a much smaller animal. Shes only 2.5 years old and 6ft 2 inches, a male BT I saw once was 7ft 3 inches and 53 lbs (overweight a bit). The Ionides BT is actually a V. Albigularis or whitethroat (different color phase) so it stands to reason that they can get that size also, although most banded WTs only seem to grow to around 4ft. The San Diego Zoo had a male WT that was over 6ft 10 inches named Titan.

This is a 3 year old animal. It is no small lizard and is quite heavy.

Well what ya think? Can you fit him in your cage? With cage furniture allow it to move around, burrow, get exercise and climb?

If this is your first monitor, i would do research. Think of what you can offer the monitor, what you want out of it in return. Make a chart if you have to and wiegh both good points and bad. Always think of the animal ahead of yourself. If your not willing to research then your not ready for the animal.

It is hard for us to tell you what the best animal is for you when we do not know you , anything about you, etc..

Good luck

I haven't thought about the size they can get. I am sorry for giving you bad information. although the cage is two feet longer than your lizard may become, it wont have room to function due to the body mass-etc. Consider a small monitor. Peachthroat. Possibly even a monitor that doesn't get as heavy a body.
