Hmm. Its great that you are so excited about your new turts. I think you are asking the wrong questions (don't mean to be rude).
1. An important question regarding the basking lamp is does it make the basking area the right temp? The clip light or any other form is fine as far as I know as long as it allows for the light to shine on the basking area. I have a clip light that I used to clip onto a shelf near the tank to keep it stable. I've moved the tank so now the lamp just rests on top of the tank (clips to nothing). Either way, it seems fine. I use a 100 W bulb in my light.
2. I assume you mean the long hood that can rest on top of your tank. That is fine but you should make sure that its a UVB bulb made for reptiles. They have names like Reptisun. If the bulb is correct, then you are fine.
In general, the important things are the type of bulb, is it doing what it should, etc more than the shape of the device that holds the bulb.
I attached a timer to both lights so they turn on/off automatically. You can get them for a few bucks at Home Depot.

Ok, they are here!
3 hatchlings! I have spent most of the day setting up. I have 2 questions..
1. I got the clip light for the basking lamp, is this ok?
2. I got the strip, or tube lighting for the "UV" light, is this ok??
So far they seem ok, basking, swimming, very out going.
Any advice would be great!
