New Too Eggs...

JohnZ Jul 18, 2004 10:42 PM

OK, my female is on 4 eggs and so far i left the eggs with her in her tub(rack). In the tub i got newspaper and a water dish. She has her eggs near the back(where the heat is) and stays coiled around them like a glove.

OK, should i leave them in with her? The temp at the back is about 90-91 degrees and front about 86. Humitity is between 78% and 85%. I spray in there 2 to 3 times a day to keep it up.

Am i OK or should i remove them from there and build an incubator from a tank? Any help would be good. Thanks... John

You'll have better control, and a better chance of success, with the eggs in an incubator with their temperature directly monitored (87-89*). Make sure the incubator is ready to go with vermiculite moistened and at the right temperature before you put the eggs in.

Some people have allowed their pythons to incubate their own eggs, but I'd think someone trying to breed expensive morphs would want to have as much control as possible.

If you leave them in the cage with her to go full term or until you get your incubator set up and running, lower the cage temps to 87-88 degrees...The female can always shiver to add heat to the eggs if the temp gets a few degrees too low but it's a different story when the temps. are high...And 91 degrees is higher than it should be...Good luck!!
