Getting a Garter...Extra info?

Ok, Im getting a BC Garter soon. Ive read up on a few books and internet sites about its cage, feeding foods/times, and common habits. I plan to hold it a short time during each day, so it gets more relaxed when its older.. (hopefully). I was wondering if there was any extra info anyone, here, wanted to tell me.
