First off its possible that it could be WC so its going to take more time to acclimate and usually it will take a week or two before they eat. What have you tried feeding him?Eggs and catfood got my little guy eating. Also you should go to BlueTongueSkinks.net because they have alot more and faster responses.

Well, they never said if it was WC or CB , but ive tried mixed vegies, canned cat food, cooked ground turkey , hard boiled egg and i also tried a raw egg on a small plate when i first got her and she just kept on running away from it...

When I got mine he kept trying to runaway but then i figured he didnt know what it was so i give him raw egg and dipped his lips in it until he licked it then he kept licking it up.

Have you had the BTS examined for parasites? Not eating can also be caused by sickness and other problems. I lost a beautifull and huge female (60 cm/ 24" Tiliqua gigas to parasites. There is no specialist where i live, so i had to study a whole lot of things. She didnt ate for a while and died one morning, stiff.
Have you tried feeder insects? My 9 month old male would literally charge at a cricket. Make sure it is also dusted with vitamin& calcium supplements.

They have to settle in before they eat. LLLreptile? Was it CB? I would of gone with a more responsible breeder. If your real worried, they love and I mean LOVE raw egg!!!

One sure way to get Blue Tongues to eat is Whiska's "CRAVE" dry cat food. First crush up cat food, add it into dish of food or they will just eat the "Crave". I have never seen a Blue Tongue CCB or WC refuse it. Also check cage temps, spot light 95f to 110f with ambient at 75f to 80f. And do you have a big cage for quality of life? Let me know what happens?

I wouldn't go any higher than 100 on the basking end. If you have it at 110, that would be your absolute max. It's dangerous however because the slightest raise of temperature in the room could skyrocket your temps to very dangerous levels. It's good to keep a little wiggle room. Sun coming through a window, heat left on, any number of factors could fluctuate the temperature in any room without notice. Just something to think about it...

July 16th? That's only four days! I wouldn't be worrying yet, they can take a while to settle in. My last baby blue tongue didn't eat anything for nearly three weeks after I got him but once he started eating he didn't stop! There are always people posting on a blue tongue forum about how they're new blue tongue isn't eating so it's completely normal! Just keep offering him food and eventually he'll start eating, if he starts to lose a lot of weight though you should take him to the vet.
Feed him things like chicken or beef cat food, chicken or beef peices, banana, blue berries, strawberries, egg etc., bascially all the yummy things and then once he's started eating mix the vegies in.

Basking Temperatures means surface temps! Like on cork bark, tiles, rocks, and drift wood. I have been breeding Blue Tongues since 1982, and know the "Whiskas Crave" works to start feeding. And NO it is not normal too stop feeding for months at a time unless Brumation or Cooling period. Gigas do not need brumation but temperature reduction to breed. "Crave" will prove itself. Raw eggs are not good as Chickens in USA are reproducing with Steriods and Antibiotics, plus the risk of Salmonela. Feeding is usually fresh vegs & sweet fruits, Garden snails that are breed indoors free of poisons & parastes, pinkie mice, low cal dog food moist, dry and canned Cat food, superworms, and waxworms. Try reading "Keeping Blue-Tongue Lizards" by Grant Turner and email Australian Reptilian Keeper Publications/ reptiles@ndtcon.net.au , and contacting Peter Weis at: pweise@velocity.net. But Remmber most breeders selling animals are no longer willing to give free information unless you buy from them.

ok, this whiskas crave is it a pouched food or something, because all i saw of the whiskas website was a pouched treat that went by the name Cravers.. is this the same thing? thanks

7serpents Jul 25, 2004 02:15 AM

No the Pouch treats are not it. "Whiskas Crave" was changed to "Whiskas Original Recipe" with Savory Nuggets in late 2003. My mistake as I always refer it as "Crave" Recipe. This is a dry Cat Food which is always avalible at Jewel, Walmart, and Petsmart. For growing skinks the dry food is broken into smaller pieces and water can be used to moisten. But most of my BT's only eat it dry of mixed with salad mix. A few also like "Rep-cal Growth Formula Juvenile Breaded Dragon Food" once a week. I cannot break the habit of calling "Original Recipe" "Crave" bacuse I have used it since 1980's. Contents are: Crude Protien min 30%, Crude Fat min 12%, Crude Fiber max 4.5% Moisture max 12%, Calcium min 1.4%, Phosphorus min 0.8%, and Taurine min 0.1%
"Pedigree Little Champions" "Healthy Maturity for Senior Dogs" Chicken & Rice, Lamb & Rice, and Beef & Rice packets are offered once a week. Superworms and Waxworms are offered once a week also. Since my BT's are housed in #432 Visions (54" x 36" x 18"they are always active.
