Feeder - - too BIG?

WIEBELHAUS Jun 21, 2003 10:10 PM

I have a cal-king about 20 inches and pretty thick in diameter.
do to inability to obtain feeders locally, I purchased a bag on
line , the fuzzy's where a little larger than I have seen , but
are about 1 and a half the size of the snake - the first two I fed here she took like a monster as usual , but it seems she
might be having a little trouble now, basically my question is what
would happen if the feeder is too big for the snake? would snake
just not take it? or could it be more serious than that? and
CAN THEY CHOKE? please don't laugh at me , but it just looks terribly painful?
Please email me directly if you like,
Thanks, Dallas

Captive bred kings are gluttons. I think they would rather die than spit out a meal that is too big. If it stops making progress on the swallow or if it is just taking too long. Over a half hour. Grab that mouse tail and GENTLY pull it out. I just had this problem yesterday because I threw a mouse in the wrong tupperware. Almost killed my king. I felt really stupid. Anyway it seems like your snake shouldn't have any problem with fuzzies but just be careful. My king got the mouse lodged right on top of his lung and then ran out of energy to swallow it down all the way. If I hadn't been watching and pulled it out. He would have died within minutes. His breathing almost non-existent and it was making a farting noise.
