New England Axanthic Brooksi

Keith Hillson Jul 19, 2004 04:46 PM

This is a 99 hatch female. She is around 4.5' long or so. Im babysitting her for a friend so I thought I would get some pics of her. She used to be mine so I may have a hard time giving her back lol. The pic is a bit washed out her color is more blue but Axanthics are very hard to get a good pic representing their color.

She is a beautiful girl. Do you have any pics of a hatchling Axanthic Brooksi? They do lighten up a lot from hatchlings, right?

Thats a nice one, especially for being a female. Most of the nice ones I have seen are usually males.

The NE axanthics do lighten up quite a bit and get bluer. I have bred both the Lemake and NE. The funny thing about the NE all the neonates are a dull almost brownish color and they lighten up to a light blue. The Lemkes I have had start off a beautiful dark sea blue (which people like more than the New England babies) but the Lemkes tend to dull out or hold more of their pattern. Recently the Lemke line has been bred out and nice adults are produced, as evidence from Brandon Osborne pictures.
So you can't always judge how the adults will look when purchasing babies. Best is to know the lineage and/or how the parents looked.
