Went out Sunday night along the base of Box Springs Canyon and walked the dirt bike trails and rock outcrops. Did not see much of anything. Anyone else have any luck in this area?

there is one good area near box springs were I have found many rubers , gopher snakes, rosys, and gardner snakes. every thing I have found there was off the trails.

Which area are you going? If you don't want to divulge the location, I understand. If you ever want to go out with someone let us know!

I've been up there three times and have seen four gopher snakes, 5 rattlers, one garder snake, one alligator lizard, and a bunch of rock lizards. There are a lot of snake tracks on the trails up there.

I've seen tons of gophers, one cal king and a rattler near the dirt bile trails off gilman springs road. Saw a really nice dor red coachwhip near the golf course there too.

It's late in the year... and the season is comming to an end. That said you can have some luck after dark, and you might find gravid female rosys in the heat (why? I don't know) But they can be found with some success in the hottest part of the day.

Good Luck

PS Try those same trails in the late afternoons April through June of next year and you'll see lots of stuff.
