HELP!! I overheated my turtles

rain Jul 19, 2004 06:21 PM

I put my musk turtles outside in a kiddy pool to get some natural sun light. I am stupid and didn't take into account that the sun would move during the day, and when I got home the turtle water was HOT. My razorback seems just fine, but my common musk is really sick. Her eyes are swollen shut and she just kind of floats around. I'm searching for a vet in my area that treats reptiles, but I'm not so sure I'll find one around here. In the mean time what can I do to help her? I put her back in her tank where the water temp is at 77 degrees. Should I keep her out of the water? What should I do? I've had my turtles for five years now. I don't want to lose them over my stupid mistake.

Sorry about your accident. But I doubt that there is anything a vet could do to help in this situation. Immediately trying to cool the turtle is just what you did it sounds like. Hope it gets better.
