food

Okay i've been reading this forum for a couple months now and i just have a couple questions mainly about food. I've seen people talk about the different foods they feed their tegu's but i'm still unsure about the "progression" So far i know they start with crickets but i don't really know how long that stays a major part of the diet and when other foods come into play. Basicly can someone outline about what age(size) tegu's should be eating what, and about how much.

thanks,
chris

I would recommend you visit Agama International's site, or Ron St. Pierre's site and read their care sheets for tegus. I'm sure you can't go wrong with what they recommend.

Do you have a tegu? How old is it? what kind is it? Where did you get it? or are you thinking of getting one and want to know how difficult the food thing is?

Let us know more specifics and you will probably get better answers.

I'm in the market i've read the entire bluetegu site my question is regarding the b/w and blue tegus i understand they go from crickets to mice but i was wondering more about around what age should i be prepared to have mice by ect and about how many crickets/mice should i expect them to be eating weekly

It depends on the size. Feed them as much as they want 1-2 times a day if you want them to grow. My guy Went from 9 /12" to 47 1/8" i8n one year Thanks Russ

When mine was about 15-17 inch and was eating 1.2-2 dozen crickets is when that had to end. Started feeding fuzzies, king worms, and all that other good stuff. It's a B/W by the way. Once it was on the fuzzies is when he started growing about an inch a week and will take down a few small adult mice. I HATED the cricket phase, what a pain that was. Hope that helped.
