Internal Parasites !!!!

stickyfingers Jul 19, 2004 08:01 PM

Okay for the past week or so I had suspected parasitic worms were inside my bearded dragon. He had been having diarreah and had lost his ravanous appatite. about an hour ago i placed him in his bath bout an inch of warm water while i went to clean his cage when i came back i saw a small about 1/2 inch worm floating around. how should i treat this . i dont want to pay a vet to tell me what i already know. so is their any type of antibiotic of medication that that i can buy that can be aplied orally to kill the parasites. Please tell me were i could get this . or if i could get it at a mail order website. Or a medication that i cold get a a vet office.

you need to go to the vet and take a stool sample to be checked, to have him weighed and appropriately dosed.....he may also have coccidia which you can't see like worms and will need a seperate medication for that....

Thanks for info. But i still dont think he needs a stool sample . I mean i saw the worm it was right by his bum, so were can buy some medications. I love my dragon i just dont want to pay a vet to tell me that he has intestinal parasites.I mean i already am sure of that.

so exactly what type of worm is it? pinworm, roundworm, hookworm...? how about giardia or coccidia? how heavy of an infestation? did you check for gram negative bacteria too? you are not a vet, you dont have a microscope and you cant write a script.

Go to a vet and get a fecal

What kind of meds would you like? How much would you like to give?

These are things a Vet would advise, or more accurately described,, "prescribe".. Most meds require a prescription. That means, the vet has to authorize them.

You could kill your dragon if you misdiagnose and or medicate inaccurately.

Just my opinion.
