Tokay cant climb- help!!

I have noticed my tokay gecko cant climb for some reason. His feet to not be sticking! I watch him try but he cant climb, i have seen him climb befor but this problem seems to of gotten worse. Any idea why he is having this trouble?

I don't know anything about Tokays...but I read in a book the other day that if you have a gecko that is able to climb vertically and has lamellae, and they can't climb, then they need help molting. I would check its feet/toes to make sure that it has completely shed its toes. If it hasn't try using baby oil and gently rub it on, and then gently pull the skin off. Try that..good luck

He's in a shed cycle, nothing to worry about, just mist his cage twice a day and he should have no problems at all, if you see him eating his shed dont panic either..thats what they do...

I second that. I freaked out this happened to me too for the first time but as long as you keep up the humidity he should come out good as new.

There is a posting a little down the page about a Tokay (June 12, 2004) with a bad shed problem. I dont think yours is as bad as his was but the guys from this board did offer alot of good advise on how to remove the stubborn shed. Maybe reading their posts will help you with your problem
