Substrate?

cvonrosen Jul 19, 2004 09:30 PM

What substrate is the best for a medium tortoise. Im building a large custom cage and i am very sick with the eco earth I have in with it. Any? And do you have to keep them humid to have a nice shell?
Thanx

Pine bark mulch... any mulch actually, dirt, sand, dirt/sand mix, grass clippings, hay (any kind), indoor/outdoor carpeting.
I use all of these at one point or another.

All indications point to the benefits of a humid hide so it is highly recommended to provide a warm/humid hide.
