Acceptable range of hot spot temps????? (Only 1 short question)

MountainLyon Jul 20, 2004 03:57 AM

I have heard everything from high 80s to 105 degrees. The care sheet I read didn't say a temp for the hot spot, just that one should be given.

Specifics: I have baby hogs coming in the mail and will be using UTHs only.

If you watch the snake, it will tell you how hot the hot spot should be.

If the snake is always on the hot spot, it is too cool.

If the snake is always on the cool side of the cage, the heat pad is too hot.

A little bit of observation goes a long way.

My Hogs hotspot is at 98-102 degrees. I have a wide temperature gradient in her cage, so she can pick the temperature she is most comfortable in. Like the previous post stated, watch your boa and let him/her dictate to you what the temperature should be.
Good luck,
Eric
