Eggs hatching and even more!!

maynard Jul 20, 2004 06:24 AM

Well they are finally starting to come out of their shells! Took them long enough. And they are totally awesome! Most of them have almost full striping down their backs. I am only having a few and I am trying to decide whether or not to keep them for myself. I will hopefully have pics up tonight.
Also this past saturday at birmingham I pcked up my first Granite! And yesterday I got a 1.1 pair of albino definite het for granite. I am totally stoked! Well Igotta go check on the little buggers just thought I would share. Thanks for reading, (pardon my spelling it is way to early and now coffee yet!)

Most burmese eggs won't hatch much past the point these did. Your incubation temp. must have been close to the absolute minimum for successful development. The striping is also an indication that the incubation temps. were very low. They were lucky.

I have alot of nifty gadgets that are very reliable. all read that the temps were 89 degrees straight since day 1.

Thermometers by spoofnews...go figure.

They seem to work. I work with herp vet what do you know...

I don't know nothing.

But what does working with a vet have to do with infrared and thermometer circuitry/electronics? Does he/she even know how to calibrate it?

The raytek, etc temp guns can ne off even though they are calibrated. I do a/c for a living, plus use the rayteks on my snakes. If the casing of the raytek is quite a bit coooler/warmer than the area/object being checked it will read incorrectly. So if your incubator is running high 80's, but your temp gun is laying around your snake room or house at anywhere from the 70's. Then it will be a degree or two off. May sound like bs, but I've found this out through trial and error. But sevre or frequent striping and odd patterns do tend to occur from low OR fluctuation in uncubation temps.

I did have minor fluctuation during the first month and half. What I meant by " I work with a herp vet" is that We have so many different gadgets and tools just to get temps that it isn't even funny. By no means am I acting like I know everything. But this is a very reliable incubator. And I was getting the smae temp readingson every different device that I used. I appreciate everyone tht has seriously read my posts and given advice...

If you had fluctuation the first month and a half, which is a big chunk of the incubation period. Then that could be a big reason why the different patterns appeared. Like you said we are all no expert. You can try to set-up everything right. But there is always some bump in the road that pops up.
