Difference between Ambanja and Nosy Be?

cherie Jun 21, 2003 11:22 PM

Is there a definitive way to tell the difference between a male Ambanja panther and a male Nosy Be? Something structural? I thought the ambanjas had a blue or greenish background with red or blueish bars and that blue Nosy Bes were a more uniform color, but then I see photos of some Nosys that also have the barring?

i not sure where i read it or even if you can tell if you don't have the two next each other for comparison but i recently read (i think) theat the ambanja was the largest in the F. pardalis classification. i think i read it in a new book i just bought(the chamleon handbook, pretty informative book i'd like to add)but i have gone over the book a couple times and can't find that statement. it is my understanding though, like yours that the ambaja has bars and and the nosey be' is solid colored. i will be getting a crossbred panther that is 3/4 nosey be' and 1/4 ambanja on the 27th from KK. we can't wait!
