all snakes are different... give him/her time to settle in before you try to handle him/her. When he/she has been in the new home for a week or so then you can try to gentally handle him/her. Some may bite some won't ... but don't be panicy about it, I have been bitten by a few different snakes, all my fault... dome feeding errors or just moving too quickly, but anyway it dosent hurt... I can honestly compair it to stepping on a picker weed in the grass... it scares you more than it hurts the first couple times. Just don't be scared of the snake. Hope this helps.... oh yeah... DON'T SMELL LIKE RODENTS when you go to pick him/her up! LOL and try not to wiggle fingers in front of their face LOL. Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of ball pythons... I dare you to try not to get addicted! LOL

The key thing is to first lihe krystal said is let it get used to its environment. Do not freak out if for the next couple of days after you get it that it nevers comes out or always seems to be defensive or even strike at you through the cage...it can be normal balls dont tend too do this as much as other snakes but some will act viscious at first give it at least a week..feed it than wait 2 more days than try and handle it and see how it reacts.
I baby my snakes so I always give them plenty of time to calm down I know its tempting but I also know I will have this snake for a while and can give it some time before showing it off.
Welcome to the wonderful and addicting world of snakes.
