Am I own my way???

PetMania Jul 20, 2004 02:44 PM

Will a female ball let a male breed her even if she is not ready to breed (time of year). I have a 2500 gram female and put a male in with her to clean out his cage. Well he locked up with her right away. I have not cooled any of my snakes down yet. They staied locked up for about 13 hours. what are the chances of her getting preg. Any help??

Well most of the time females will give in and breed in or out of season. I highly doubt you will get any eggs out of this, although if you do chances are they are going to be infertile. Doesn't do any harm.

females need environmental cues to signal them to start the reproduction cycle..the temp drop seems to be the main cue...so I would start doing that if you wish to get good eggs from her.....females can retain sperm & i've herad rumor of retention up to 6 months but I have no proof of that personally. I would start the cooling cycle & hopefully she will take & give you some babies. I guess since there's no cue so far you can prob wait until september or so. if anyone feels i'm incorrect hopefully they can help you better.

good luck!
