I caught a very unusual green anole!!

SouthFLBoa Jul 20, 2004 06:58 PM

I caught a green anole today that had two perfectly developed tails. I have it with me now and am going to barrow a friends d-camera so I could post the picture of it. It looks very unusual, I have never heard of a lizard having two tails? I don't know what do do with it, how much is it $$worth$$? If it's not worth much should I let it go?
Thanks in advance

I have seem some 2 tailed skinks and others in the classifieds a few times.

It is strange looking, but does happen. I only think someone who really wants to show him off as STRANGE, may be willing to spend a few dollars more, but not much more.

If I did not want him, I think I would just let him go happily on his way, and just tell others this LIZARDY TALE , (HA HA)

Good luck, thanks for the post, interesting!

I've seen that happen. Sometimes if they lose part of their tail, it will grow back split and form two. I've seen it happen with the regular brown anoles around here. But if you're saying that it is 2 full tails, that would be unusual to me. As for money, you gotta realize that this is a very common lizard that usually sells for a couple bucks. I bet somebody would give you 10 or 20 maybe. I'll settle for the picture though. Anxious to see it!

yeah that happens nothing big really. i just speak for myself i think but i really wouldnt want a lizard with a forked tail. they might give you a little more but probly no more than 8-15 dollars and seeing that its wild caught id probably take a few pics and let it go. if you can get one at the store and not take a lizard from its home i really wish you would buy a c/b one if at all possible. let it go after you take some pictures.
