Pinellas King photo

Seems like they shouldn't look like this so far south in Florida. Are these relict genetics from when Easterns occurred farther south than they do today? (and were isolated on the Pinellas County peninsula with water on three sides) Hmmmm... Any opinions?

Thats a beautiful King ! That locality is right in or near the intergrade area between Easterns and Floridana. Ive seen another locality in Hernando Co just north of Pinellas that looks similar. Seems these Kings get the best of both worlds !

You know, that perticular snake has a bit too much yellow for me. And the cross bands are too wide. Not to mention the way they almost form saddles. The head is a typical St. Pete though especially with that straight thin line just behind it.
Nice one. I'll have to go get us a big ol' male.
