Plants for my 5 sulcata's

Rkgrapejr Jul 20, 2004 08:50 PM

I have a question. I have recently bought a variety of plants to have for cover in my tortoise cage next year. I wanted to know what everyones opinion was on these plants in a tortoise enclosure.

optinua- prickly pear
aloe vera
4 hybiscus (sp?) bushes
ficus tree
queen fern
umbrella tree

please let me know if these would be safe to have in their enclosure

Rick

Five? I doubt any of the *good* plants will last too long!

YES opuntia- prickly pear
OCCASIONALLY aloe vera may cause loose stools
YES 4 hybiscus (sp?) bushes EXCELLENT
NO ficus tree
no idea queen fern
NO umbrella tree

If your sulcatas have any size to them they'd probably have that stuff cleaned out in a day or two.

What you need for sulcatas is woody plants that are big enough that they can't reach or chew through.
