Incubating Box Turtle Eggs...

turtle96 Jul 21, 2004 12:45 AM

I have never heard of poking holes in a container so the water does not rise in it. But I was wondering if anyone has hatched box turtle eggs in a incubator with out poking holes?

I have not had a problem with accumulating water (yet). I use vermiculite as a medium, and check it for moisture regularly, including when I add water.
Using a perforated container is a good idea if you're not a good judge of moisture levels: I worked in a plant nursery for years, so I'm used to it.

I have humidity around 90. Do you ever directly spray the eggs with water or do you put moss on them like im am doing? Do you think i should have to wet the moss and put it on the eggs if the humidity is 90?
