How often should baths be given?

And are you putting any thing else in the water to kill any type of bacteria?

I dont give my tegu baths very often because he goes in his water dish some. Do you mean put stuff in the bathwater? Because I would suggest not doing this unless it is non-toxic but thats kind of a no-brainer. No dog or cat shampoo either because the pH of both are very different from what a tegu needs. If you use a soap of some kind I would use an antibacterial hand soap, mild. No extra perfumes (in the soap) either because tegus are sensitive to smells like that. Plain water is probably just fine, with just a little bit of soap. My tegu likes to drink the bathwater so thats why I say no soap/shampoo. If Im way off track then just forget what I said!

I have found that my tegus will dirink and dunk them selves in the water. So I do not add anything to the water. I am too afraid it will harm them or get in thier eyes. I would say plain water is more than enough since that is all they have in the wild. My guys really like thier baths so I give them a soak for about 20 min once a week. They are always allowed to run the house and dry off as much as possible before I put them back in the tank.

all my Tegus have tubs in their enclosures and they bathe daily, sometimes more than once a day when its hot. The water is changed daily and more often if I see poop in it
