Tree boa births

bigdnutz Jul 21, 2004 10:46 AM

I was curious as to how tree boa babies were born. Normally I see them perched quite comfortably and wondered if the babies just got a good drop on the head to enter this world. Or do the females retreat to the floor to deliver them?
Any info would help.

I can only speak for ETBs, but the mothers stay on the perch. The babies come out pretty slowly though and either secure a hold on a perch or wrap around their mother's tail and slide down, so they don't really fall on their heads.

My female ATB's all went to the floor of the cage when they gave birth, never from the perch.
