I finally got my XP3 filter yesterday! It was on sale at Petsmart.com and the store near us matched the price. It was $94.49 online puls the tax pusehd it just over $100. I am so excited. I took everything out of the box and read the instructions twice. There are so many parts I know it will take me a while to put it together. I didn't get the black stars or the white cylender things for filter media because the box said it was ready to use out of the box. After I read the instructions it added other filter media that you could add if you wanted. So what other filter media should I use? I will leave it as is for a little while but I was thinking maybe a little later I would add some Nitra Zorb. It came with the 20 and 30 ppi foam, micro-filtration pad, and the bio-chem Zorb. Does it need the ceramic rings, bio-chem Stars, activated carbon, Nitra Zorb, or the Phos Zorb? I just assumed the best one would be the Nitra Zorb to get rid of the Nitrates, but I don't know if that's even necessary.
Also I got the Turtle Dock and it's in the tank now but from the looks of the filter set up (the one with the tubes going to both sides of the tank not just the one side) I don;t know how I am going to set it up with that dock there. Can someone post a pic of how they have their filter and dock set up? Or explain a way to do it.
