question about temperature

gothra Jul 21, 2004 07:27 PM

I have one of those sticker type ZooMed thermometer, when I stick it to the glass just above the substrate on the warm side, it reads 90 degrees. However, if I lay that flat right under the heat bulb (50W spot bult), it becomes 95-96 degrees. I felt the substrate myself, its only cool to the touch. As soon as I turn off the light, the temp goes down right away. So I think its the radiant heat that's hot, not the substrate. Is this ok for the geckos? The other side of the tank stays in 84 degrees.

95 is about the max I, myself would like to see as far as temps.
I would get a more reliable thermometer like a digital thermometer. I like mine because it gives the minimum and maximum for the day so I know if it goes out of bounds. The sticker thermometers have been known to be significantly wrong.

You can never have just one gecko. Actually it is almost impossible to have two
