Veiled with swolen eyes?

p00ka Jul 21, 2004 08:04 PM

When I went to work today, he was fine. Upon comming home, my juvinile veiled has kind-of swolen areas on the front of his syes - kind of like small puffy bags in the front-most area of his field of view. He seems fine otherwise - no breathing problems, or anything...but he does keep rubbing his face on the leaves in his terrarium. His appetite is good, and he seems to have eaten all of his crickets while I was gone. What could this be a sign of - aside from a respratory problem? He's not distressed otherwise, his color is good, etc. Could this be some kind of irratant I have somehow introduced in the last day or so?

thanks...

there is something is in his eye ,possibly dust from feedings
there is no home remedy that i know of of once the swelling starts
you should rinse the eye with saline, if it gets worse
and i hate saying this take him to the vet
as the same thing happened to me the eye still isnt right!

This happened very suddenly - over the 9ish hours I was at work, which makes me think that it's some kind of environmental issue. That and the fact that *both* eyes are puffy in the front area. He's resting right now, kind of hiding his head under a leaf. I'll *keep an eye on him* - hopefully it's just some kind of irritation.

It could be some sort of irritation to something. Usually its calcium or vitamins, when feeding crickets, some of the powder may come down and get into his eyes. Other lizards can get rid of it, but it seems that the chameleon has trouble removing it. Just be careful when you feed them, to prevent any powder from gettin on it.
